Zine: HOBBY HORSE #4

(HOBBY HORSE Issue #4)

I just bought a copy of Hobby Hose #4 and I'm mega ecstatic. Over the past two years, I have really begun to appreciate the artwork of 5003 and DDOCK. There's just something about their individual aesthetics that appeals to me, so having them collab on Hobby Horse is so dope.

FANFICTION: Unknown Grunt c.1943

A dope creation from FANFICTION, which I have been crushing on for a very long time. From what I've read online, there were only 100 printed on Kodak Endura professional photo paper with a glossy finish, with sizes ranging from 8x10 to 16×20. Dude, I'm drooling right now...

FANFICTION's Etsy and Bigcartel stores are currently on hiatus, so patience is a vertu or some shit.

GANTZ

I must say, this is a perfect example of an allegory. 340 chapters deep and GANTZ is basically near its end. With the story-line split into 3 parts/phases, GANTZ is currently on its finale phase (which started in chapter 304).

It was around 2005 or 2006 when I first picked up the manga and instantly became smitten by it. Amazing character development, well thought out pacing, interesting design(mainly the aliens and the weaponry), and a cool ass sci-fi concept. I was hooked like a crack fiend.

When flipping through older volumes, you start to notice a decades worth of changes. Its very prevalent in the art.

The 3D Art Book (Tristan Eaton)

Strange, I feels like I've been living at Barnes and Noble recently. Mainly hanging out in the art section, perusing through there very limited book selections, while complaining to myself. I've been to 5 or 6 Barnes and Noble this past week and they seem very complacent about restocking books in the art section. But whatever! I ended up spending over $200 on books, so I can't complain too much. Today though, I made the decision to break up with that hussy B&N. Gold-digging slut! Taking all my money and always asking about a membership card! PSSST!

Anywho... I wanted to talk about this one book I bought called "The 3D Art Book" by Tristan Eaton. The book is a basically a collection art pieces from contemporary artists around the world, but heres the kicker! 96% of the book is anaglyphic (retro 3D). Dude! I bought it without thinking! I also most ripped the book out of the cashiers hands when I saw that 3D glasses were included. The concept of a anaglyphic book isn't new but it makes for a pretty neat coffee table book.

Hmm... I do have a gripe or two about the book. The anaglyph in the book works and sometimes doesn't work, if you caught my drift. Art pieces from Esao Andrews and Greg Simkins (Craola) look dope as shit, giving off that depth of feel that's almost surreal. But pieces from D*face and Gary Baseman had me forcing myself to see the 3D, kind of like looking at an autostereogram (magic eye puzzle).

I use to have a pair of 3D glasses when I was younger and now that I have a new pair, it brings back memories. Like, horrific and painful memories. Damn! Their cool and all but these glasses rape the hell out of your eye if you were them too long.

ONRA – Sitting Back

Illest

Adjectives make good t-shirt, its a proven fact!

I bought this shirt like three months ago and just throw it into my closet forgetting about it. Saying that I forgot about doesn't take away the fact that is so "ill". See what I did there? *nudge* *nudge* Well I digress.

I originally heard about the Illest clothing line from some dope people on tumblr and I kind of bought my shirt out of sheer "awe."

Wore it today for the first time and I can't complain.

Power Glove

The movie The Wizard came on TV about two weeks ago and I was reminded of the sheer awesomeness of the power glove. "It's so bad."

When I think back, I always wanted a power glove but I never thought about actually buying one. But seeing how I'm rich now form hooking (fictitious occupation), I went ahead and bought one off of amazon. I aimed low and bought the cheapest one I could find and prayed to god that it wouldn't look like shit.

My expected reaction after opening the USPS packaging: "Ooooo! This is some boss ass shit! I ain't evah gona taken this off!"
My actual reaction after opening the USPS packaging: This is some dirty ass shit, they could have dusted it off, damn! Are these exposed wires! Damn! The sensor seems to be damaged! Damn! Damn! This thing doesn't even work when its jacked into the Nintendo! Damn! Damn! Damn!
