Dreamcast (Dream Point Bank) Leopard Control pad

Once upon a time, Sega created a promotional campaign in Japan called Dream Point Bank. By purchasing a Sega Dreamcast, accessories, or games, you would be given a Dream Point Bank slip, that equates to "X" amount of points.

(a slip I got way back when from buying Guilty Gear X)

Depending on the amount of points you accumulate, you could redeemed it for a large number of things. But what I found very interesting were the Dreamcast control pads that they came out with: Leopard Print, Wood Effect, White Marble, Black carbon fiber and probably some other ones I have never seen before.

Seeing how I still play my Dreamcast, I definitely plan on buying the Leopard Control pad.

Cheapest one I found was for 60 bucks on Ebay (UK).

King Geedorah - Take me to your leader

Take me to your leader by King Geedorah (Daniel Dumile), was an album I already had in my possessions but only digitally. So last week, I went ahead and bought a physical copy off of amazon.

The album is art. An insane collages of rhyming narratives, accompanied by dope instrumentals, all along keeping up with the constant Toho Monster theme.

This was really the first Dumile's album I've ever heard and it really changed my opinion of Hip Hop. Mind you now, Crime Mob was very popular when I first heard this, so yeah...

After I made my purchase, I googled french comic book artist Gobi and came across a promotional video for his comic book series, Zblu Cops: Turbo Justice!, which is a joint effort with artist Bill Otomo.

Its as if Hiroyuki Imaishi inhaled Viewtiful Joe and this is the exhaled residue...

I went to a thrift store with mom one weekend, when this LP caught my eye (Streisand / Superman). I kinda just grabbed it without thinking and starting inspect an old stack of Power Ranger VHS cassettes. There wasn't shit in the stack, but I kept the LP and showed it to my mother, who freaked-out. Apparently she use to own the album in high school. Go figure!

I don't give two shits about Barbra Streisand, but you can't go wrong with a Super Man T-shirt, some short-shorts and knee high socks.

Stickers: From Punk Rock to Contemporary Art, is basically an overview of stickers bombing and how effective it was as a medium, for not only shaping our current graffiti subculture but in promoting music, fashion and skateboarding as well.

The book is pretty dope, no lie! It features over 4,000 stickers, along with some awesome chit-chat from photographer Martha Cooper, writer/cartoonist John Holmstrom, skateboarder/founder of Zoo York Eli Morgan Gessner, and some other cats...

Around 2009, the clothing brand, The Freshnes, came out with these really boss Elephant Print Suspenders. So yeah, I bought 'em... and waited two years to wear them, like a dumb ass.

Anthony Lister had an art show at Metro Gallery this monday entitled Street Faces. I'm a big Anthony Lister fan-boy but I was wasn't blown away by the pieces. Don't get me wrong, the art was awesome but it wasn't as dynamic as his showcase at HVW8. What do I knows though? Not a damn thing... I just want more super hero themed art. :(

Putting my meager dissatisfaction aside, Lister's work is still very impressive. Giving us tasty eyeball candy to look at, along with a pretty dope sub-narrative.

Bought the July issue of Juxtapoz last week in St. Louis while I visiting my sister. It features interviews with James Franco/Harmony Korine/Aaron Young as they ~~ramble~~ discuss their re-imagination of the movie, Rebel without a cause. But if you so happen to accidently turn to page 50, you'll find a pretty dope interview with graffiti artist Swampy, showcasing the artist's unusual or erratic life style. Which mainly consist of train hopping from one end of North America to the next.

Weird, I never noticed how mundane my life seems in comparison. Traveling on the fly and surviving without a steady income (kind of), while pursuing your creative ambitions. Thats some real chill shit. I don't really want to give away too much about the article but I can say its great to have an in-depth look at an artistic enigma.

This clothing line is too dope to be real. Villainous Visard is a UK based clothing line that appeals to me in so many different ways. They blend elements of old school comic books, japanese anime/manga, and hip hop fashion. The designs are clean as shit and they really do leave an impression on you.

I must say, this is a perfect example of an allegory. 340 chapters deep and GANTZ is basically near its end. With the story-line split into 3 parts/phases, GANTZ is currently on its finale phase (which started in chapter 304).

It was around 2005 or 2006 when I first picked up the manga and instantly became smitten by it. Amazing character development, well thought out pacing, interesting design(mainly the aliens and the weaponry), and a cool ass sci-fi concept. I was hooked like a crack fiend.

When flipping through older volumes, you start to notice a decades worth of changes. Its very prevalent in the art.

Strange, I feels like I've been living at Barnes and Noble recently. Mainly hanging out in the art section, perusing through there very limited book selections, while complaining to myself. I've been to 5 or 6 Barnes and Noble this past week and they seem very complacent about restocking books in the art section. But whatever! I ended up spending over $200 on books, so I can't complain too much. Today though, I made the decision to break up with that hussy B&N. Gold-digging slut! Taking all my money and always asking about a membership card! PSSST!

Anywho... I wanted to talk about this one book I bought called "The 3D Art Book" by Tristan Eaton. The book is a basically a collection art pieces from contemporary artists around the world, but heres the kicker! 96% of the book is anaglyphic (retro 3D). Dude! I bought it without thinking! I also most ripped the book out of the cashiers hands when I saw that 3D glasses were included. The concept of a anaglyphic book isn't new but it makes for a pretty neat coffee table book.

Hmm... I do have a gripe or two about the book. The anaglyph in the book works and sometimes doesn't work, if you caught my drift. Art pieces from Esao Andrews and Greg Simkins (Craola) look dope as shit, giving off that depth of feel that's almost surreal. But pieces from D*face and Gary Baseman had me forcing myself to see the 3D, kind of like looking at an autostereogram (magic eye puzzle).

I use to have a pair of 3D glasses when I was younger and now that I have a new pair, it brings back memories. Like, horrific and painful memories. Damn! Their cool and all but these glasses rape the hell out of your eye if you were them too long.

Been surfing the net looking at some groovy stuff when I came across Boneface, a UK artist who might be the reincarnation of cool. I can say only a hand-full of artists have literally given me goose bumps. Like, mother fucken goose bumps with the wired chills and shit!

Boneface takes elements from comic books, video games and old school B-list monster films and throws it all into a blender, mixing in a little punk and agony. His style seems reminiscent of Jirat James Patradoon... Uhm, before 2009 (side note: checkout Jirat's webstore).

The movie The Wizard came on TV about two weeks ago and I was reminded of the sheer awesomeness of the power glove. "It's so bad."

When I think back, I always wanted a power glove but I never thought about actually buying one. Gantz: The Movie

Putting aside the source material, the movie was just... okay. The dubbing was hurriedness and character development was kind of lacking in some areas. The CGI and the movie props were handled very nicely.

Adapting a very extensive manga like Gantz into a two part feature film, changes are to be expected. So some of the backlash that the film is getting for not following the manga should be a bit more mellowed. But taking into consideration some of the changes they did make, the film could have been better.

Biggest changes made (In my opinion):

-Number of participance in each mission were decreased.

-The Tanaka aliens mission only had one Tanaka alien.

-Kurono is currently job hunting while attending a University.

-Masaru went to juvy for killing his father and his compassion for life is downplayed.

-No brain bombs.

-Kurono's awesome-ness, was no where to be found!

DC: Crisis on infinite earths

I so wanted to re-read Crisis for a long time but I just never got around to doing so. I am by no means a DC fan boy, nor would I say; "Marvel can do no wrong". I am neutral when it come to both companies, buuuuut.... When it comes to crossover events, in my opinion, DC has Marvel beat. Blah! Blah! Blah! I make some very valid points about DC, throw in some bull shit about marvel and then everyone agrees with me.

I read Crisis for Infinite Earths some years back online, then around my senior year of high school (2006) I bought the paper back, just for the Alex Ross cover art. When I bought it, I literally throw it into a plastic bin and never bothered to glance throw it. Not once...

It has been five years sense I held the book in my hands and almost seven sense I actually read the story. Hopefully its still as good.

Bandai: Wonder Swan Color

Oh Me! Oh My! How I wanted this Mac Daddy for a long time but I've always been reluctant to buy it. But last month I decided to cough up the money for a Wonder Swan Color, which was around $45-50 on ebay. I also bought two games; Final Fantasy II and One Piece: Grand Battle Swan Colosseum (which cost around $20 each).

Final Verdict:

After two months of owning the wonder swan color, I have only played it about two times. Not to say the games aren't fun, or that I can't understand any of the games text due to it being a Japanese imports, but the wonder swan suffers from have a shitty ass screen. A rapping-ly shitty ass screen, that should burn in the deepest caverns of hell.

Shamo is pretty well engaging manga... During the first quarter at lest and I can honestly relate to his sense of wanting to survive and the grief he feels for what he has done. But after Ryo returns back to the normal word, he becomes such a douchebag! So much so that I can't even find a way to relate to him. Committing acts of rape and blackmail...

Ian Jay - Lazer Wolf

I spent the past weekend at Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) and while I was there I purchased some pretty cool shit from the artist alley. One of the 1st things that caught my attention was Ian Jay's comic book "Lazer Wolf". The story of Lazer Wolf is as followed: A cyborg wolf who can shoot lasers out of its eyes (and also has a high IQ) warns the F.B.I. of a mad Scientist who is trying to take over the United States with an army of cybernetic animals. The quick thinking Federal Bureau of Investigation partners the wolf with agent Kowalsky as they are now on a mission to save America. Blah! Blah! Blah! Quirky shit happens.

Its pretty good!

Hudson Mohake's album Butter is a really good, after you listen to it once and then let it sit and collect dust for a few months. I just happen to transfer the album to my zune last month and I was so blown away.

Butter is super-mega bass heavy, like really BOOM BOOM bass heavy (give or take three or four songs).

I haven't had much time to myself outside of work but thanks to my awesome time management skills, I found time to work on some side projects. Other than finishing up my book I've been working on an online store and a killer photo book (which all should be finished by the end of the year). My design aesthetics has changed over the past year and I feel very much influenced by late 1980s early 1990s comics.

Inglorious bastards (Un Amico - Ennio Morricone)

I just saw Inglorious bastards with my girl friend last night and I enjoyed it. The movie was pretty long (2 hours and 28 minutes long) but it did aid in character development. I never saw the original 1970 "The Inglorious Bastards" but I hear that both movies aren't that much alike.

I remember being in the theater when I hear Samuel L. Jackson voice narrating. I kinda thought it was one of the funniest moments in the movie and it made me feel like i was watching a Tarantino movie. Not that the rest of the movie was void of his usually style, its just that one thing stuck out to me.

Another moment in the movie I clearly recall was the death of Mélanie Laurent's character; Shoshanna Dreyfus, who was killed off to a soundtrack.... which didn't really make me that sad but I left the theater thinking "I really want that song in my life".

I just recently got one of my shirt printed from off my deck-peck store and I wasn't to happy.

-After I purchased my shirt they sent the confirmation e-mail but never sent the shipping information.

-Two mouths pass before I got my shirt in the mail but that was after I called...

-When I opened the package containing the shirt I saw that it was printed not by deckpeck but by MySoti.

WTF!

For the time being I'm going to keep my deckpeck store open... Hopefully i can have my work printed by Jakprints and sell it on bigcartel.

I Forsaken You Not Game Boy

After I found my girl friends copy of pokemon blue, I've been playing it on my game-boy pocket and color like a zombie. After about a week, I soon started to re-explore my game-boy game collection and reach a level of nirvana.（￣ー￣）

Even though I feel great about jumping back into the past, I have abandoned the thought of even playing with my obese classic or original game-boy (and I have three of them =_=; ).

Cons:

-Its pudgy

-Its hella gray (later models of the classic game-boy came out with several different colors but I don't have any)

-It takes four AA batteries to operate (unless you have DC6V adaptor)

-Out of all the models, it has the smallest screen (a side from the game-boy micro).

-Games look yellow-ish and gray (and not even the contrast can help)

-The adaptor port is to high up.

Pros:

-The B and A buttons look like sweet tarts

(and that is it ¬_¬)

To be honesty, the game-boy classic is still pretty damn sweet.

I've been looking every for a song by FLYamSAM titled Princess Toadstool. I was only able to listen to it on youtube but tonight I decided to go on a song hunt. I don't mean to brag but I fancy myself a pretty good internet bloodhound (able to find almost anything online *smug*) but for some reason I couldn't find this song anywhere. Well... I found it but its complied into a Mixtape. I found it on a blog I occasionally visit called blindiforthekids.com and you can download the mixtape free:

Blah-blah-blah! I stumbled upon flv2mp3.com, a site that asks you to provide them with the url of the FLV file (for example: http://www.youtube.com/xxxxxxx) and they convert it into a mp3 file.

I tried going to bed around 12:30 or 1:00 last night but I was struck with a case of insomnia (well... I just drank to much Hawaiian Punch and had to constantly use the bathroom every so offten =__=). After about the 2nd hours of perusing through random web pages, I came across a yahoo news article (+10 yahoo news) that mentioned free stuff. "Blah blah blah" I found a site that lets a person trade music CDs online with others.

The sites called SWAPA CD and it seems pretty funky. You make a whis list of CDs you want and if a member has that CD than they can mail it to you (there is a process you have to go through but I don't feel like going in-depth).

I really don't have a problem giving away my CD's to random strangers because I backup all my disk right after i get them. So why not let others enjoy the same crap I listen to... I already plan on mailing 6 or 7 CDs this week.

I've been reread berserk and Its kinda bad. I love the manga and the engaging story but it only took me a whole weekend to fly through it to chapter 304.

The manga itself is 20 years old and I didnt really take the time to really absorb it all. Kentaro Miura's drawing style has improved from the late 80's and the story has so many dramatic turns and twist that I really don't know what to expect in any up coming chapters.

So for the past two/three years I have been going to a HOT/MUSTY/OLD laundry mat near my house. On all accounts, the place really suck but we do get our cloths done.
